Dr. Mark Tasch
Mark is an anesthesiologist for IU Health, working two days a week. He has been involved with Exodus Refugee for several years, volunteering as an individual willing to support refugee families with a variety of social support needs, such as transportation to grocery or other stores as well as transportation to healthcare appointments.
Mark quickly noted that it can be tough to manage the needs of a newly-arrived family as a single individual so he sought out a community support team to become part of. The rest is history as Mark quickly and seamlessly blended into the From Strangers to Neighbors team. His passion for service and giving back are inspiring to the entire team as his desire to leave a legacy of generosity that can inspire people beyond our team.
His willingness to do whatever needs doing includes:
Figuring out how to set up a charcoal grill and cook hamburgers for 30 when we hosted the family in an American-style picnic a couple months after their arrival.
Finding out where the family can purchase 40 lb whole tilapia to accommodate their dietary preferences.
A road trip to a local barber with the three oldest sons + dad followed by a lunch outing to a middle eastern restaurant that expanded everyone’s palette.
Scheduling and transporting the youngest child to the health department for vaccines, along with the child’s mother.
