Education Guidance, ESL Tutoring

Some families arrive in the United States with some minimal English. Others speak none at all.

Volunteer team members with the desire to help with tutoring find doing so yields huge benefits. Refugees all share that learning English is the key to accomplishing almost everything else in their new communities. It enables them to:

  • Seek better jobs.

  • Pursue their high school diploma and/or continuing education beyond high school.

  • Communicate with their neighbors, the school system, the healthcare system, and the banking system.

  • Navigate roads, stores, websites, and community resources.

Volunteers with a desire to tutor have access to tutoring materials that provide a roadmap for helping refugees learn the basics. These same volunteers will also work with families to get them enrolled in local school systems’ adult education programs where ESL is taught, along with other courses that enable refugees to earn HS degrees and other certifications.
